Animal Welfare and Experimentation Committee

The Animal Experimentation and Welfare Committee’s mission is to channel all the information related to animal experimentation in the widest possible sense, which may be useful for SENC members, both students and researchers in training or senior, and to promote actions that in value in front of the society the experimentation with animals. The Committee is particularly interested in having the participation of the SENC members in this task, as information and / or proposing joint activities, as well as actively collaborating in their development.

Activities

To inform at the SENC members about advances in terms of legislation, as well as about initiatives that are in progress related to animal welfare and experimentation.

To coordinate with similar committees from Scientific Societies in Spain, and with European Committees of the same purpose.

To promote a document that supports animal research, with the support of different scientific societies, patient associations, etc. The document will be sent to the different political groups in Spain and Europe.

To increase the visibility of animal research and its benefits among the general public:

  • Increasing visibility on social media
  • Creating material (text/presentations) aimed at the general public
  • Producing support material for researchers in order to facilitate this work
  • Organizing round tables, symposiums, etc. on animal experimentation during SENC activities aimed for the general public.

To start-up an online course about Methods in Animal Research aimed to SENC members.
